The Beliefs Of Grace Baptist Church

WE BELIEVE the Bible is God’s Holy Word, supernaturally inspired and preserved for man and is our only authority in doctrine and practice.  That God’s Word is perfectly preserved in the King James Bible.

WE BELIEVE there is one God, the creator and ruler of the universe, existing in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Ghost.  We believe that he became man without ceasing to be God.  We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings.  We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.

WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ, and that He is the abiding helper, teacher and guide.

WE BELIEVE that the material universe, including man, came into being by direct creation by God in six literal days, and not by process of evolution.  We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God; but that in Adam’s sin the whole human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved, and of himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.

WE BELIEVE that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of Salvation.  Salvation of the sinner is wholly of grace and made possible only through the death of Jesus Christ upon the cross of Calvary; that there is salvation in none other than Christ, and that a personal acceptance of Him is absolutely essential.  To be saved a sinner must be born again.

WE BELIEVE  that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by the power of God, and are thus secured in Christ forever.  It is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word.

WE BELIEVE that a church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, and established by Jesus Christ, who is the sole head.  We believe this church began with Jesus Christ .

WE BELIEVE in the Pre-tribulation Rapture of the Saints.

WE BELIEVE that the ordinances for the local church are Scriptural Baptism by immersion and the Scriptural observance of the Lord’s Supper.

WE BELIEVE that Christ will return personally, visibly, and bodily to this earth to bring to completion His kingdom begun in the heart of man at salvation.

WE BELIEVE that the first day of the week is the Lord’s day and is a time to gather to worship and remember His resurrection.

WE BELIEVE in a literal real  heaven and a literal real hell.

WE REJECT and oppose the charismatic movement which includes it’s tongue speaking as unbiblical and the Ecumenical movement, the liberal World Council of churches and the national council of Churches as forerunners of the future One World Church.

WE REJECT and oppose Calvinism and Arminianism.

GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of the church in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality, to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and private devotions; to religiously educate our children, to see the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment, to avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger.

We believe that to be pleasing to the Lord, since the body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, we are to abstain from the use of tobacco, the sale and use of alcoholic beverages and any other indulgence that would be harmful to the body; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our, Saviour.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distresses; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feelings and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the laws of our Saviour, to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage, that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of Gods’ Word.

WHO WE ARE AND OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of this body of believers shall be to maintain an autonomous Baptist Church, to preach and teach the Word of God, to proclaim the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Saviour to the ends of the world; to train children, youth, and adults to be good witnesses for Jesus Christ and faithful stewards of the historic Baptist doctrine and to glorify the Lord!
